Important information for individuals and companies certified by UK bodies to operate with Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) and Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases (F-Gas)
Following discussions with Refcom and other industry experts we have been given the following information:
If the UK leaves the EU without a deal, ODS and F-Gas certificates and training attestations awarded by a certification body in the UK will no longer be recognised within the remaining EU member states. The default date for the UK’s exit from the EU is now 11pm on the 31st January 2020.
This will apply to both personal F-Gas qualification certificates and to F-Gas Register company certificates.
If you are affected by this and wish to continue working in the EU zone, post Brexit, then you will need to hold an EU issued F-Gas qualification personal certificate and an EU issued company F-Gas Register certificate.
If you do not work outside of the UK or non-EU countries then this does not affect you.
What does this mean to you as an individual?
At 11pm on 31st January 2020 FGas Certificates awarded by a UK certification body will no longer be recognised within the remaining EU member states.
TO WORK WITHIN EUROPE YOU MUST TAKE ACTION.
Individuals holding F-Gas qualifications from the UK can apply for an exchange certificate from the Irish EPA HERE
All exchanges of personal certificates must be made before 11pm on 31 January 2020.
What does this mean to you as a company?
The free exchange program for company certificates finished on the 31/12/19. To work in Europe after 31/1/20 you will need to purchase an EU certificate from and pay a fee according to the size of your business.
YOU MUST TAKE ACTION.
Certification as a company will be processed by F-Gas Registration Limited.
We would point out that you can only purchase an EU company certificate if you have engineers with EU personal certificates.
Companies wishing to exchange their company F-Gas Register certificate to an Irish one for EU use can do so HERE
