The State of Emergency (“Estado de Alarma”) declared on 14th March, ended on June 21st ending three months of lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said that hygiene controls must be followed.
The country’s 47 million residents can freely travel between regions. Spain’s borders are open to European Union and Schengen-area countries (with the exception of Portugal where the restrictions will continue to apply until 1 July), and travellers from the UK. Arrivals from the United Kingdom are not required to self-isolate on arrival but will be subject to a series of three health checks
Face masks are obligatory on public transport and in public spaces where it is not possible to maintain social distancing of 1.5 metres. Social distancing measures and other safety precautions must be observed at all times.
Several bars and restaurants in Spain have been open for some weeks.
